How do Resource Absences affect scheduling in FSL?
Suggested answer
Resource Absences mark a Service Resource as unavailable for a defined period, preventing the optimizer from scheduling appointments during that time. Absence types:
1. Full Day — the resource is unavailable for one or more complete days (e.g., vacation, training).
2. Time Range — the resource is unavailable during a specific time window within a day (e.g., doctor's appointment from 2–4 PM). Absences are visible on the Dispatcher Console Gantt as a blocked period. If a resource already has appointments during an absence period, the dispatcher receives a conflict warning. The optimizer will not assign new appointments that overlap with a resource absence, ensuring scheduling accuracy.
