Describe how you would set up environments and a release process for a multi-team Salesforce program.
Suggested answer
I would define an environment strategy, for example developer sandboxes for build, a shared integration sandbox, a partial or full copy sandbox for UAT and staging, then production. Metadata should live in source control, with deployments automated through a CI/CD pipeline using Salesforce CLI or a DevOps tool rather than ad hoc change sets.
I would agree branching and code review rules, a release calendar, test and quality gates, a rollback approach, and a process for sandbox refreshes. Governance should also cover changes made directly in production, which should be minimized.
What interviewers look for
Interviewers look for environment planning, source control, automation and governance. Strong answers mention data seeding for UAT and coordinating multiple teams. A pitfall is relying on manual changes in production.
